Savings website CouponCabin did a survey this week of adults who use their services. The question was 'What would you do to go to a SuperBowl game featuring a beloved team?" The results were not especially surprising:
- 21% would shirk an important work responsibility
- 20% would miss the wedding of a close relative or friend
- 19% would miss the funeral of a loved one
- 15% would miss the birth of their child (perhaps the most shocking of all)
Now, other than the fact that 1 in 5 US adults are insensitive and immature morons, what does this tell us? For me, it says that the worse possible time to hold a wedding it in the first week of February.
Despite the slightly extreme nature of the question, I think that it could actually be applied to real life more simply. I went around asking some die-hard football fans if they would refuse to go to a wedding of a friend or relative to watch the SuperBowl, and most said that unless they were extremely close to the person (sister, best friend, ect.), they would.
So if you have cousins, school chums or coworkers on your invite list, you might want to skip SuperBowl Sunday, or you will have some empty seats to fill.
