Is American popstar, Mariah Carey, and rapper, Nick Cannon, 27, already discussing wedding plans? The couple have only been together for a year, which, according to Hollywood standards, is not enough time to constitute a deep connection. Rumors of their engagement began to surface just last weekend when Carey, 38, was spotted at an after-party wearing a large diamond on her wedding finger, which she flashed proudly for everyone to see. 

The pair has been seen on multiple occasions, holding hands like two young kids in love. Insiders say that the lovebirds were cozying it up at the Cadillac Lounge in Tenjune. Afterwards they attended a movie premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, during which they stayed within close vicinity. A few weeks later they headed out to Las Vegas for shows, dancing, and poolside lounge areas. Carey’s rep would not comment on the new engagement – and Carey has managed to evade the media entirely. 

Cannon, on the other hand, wasn’t too concerned about keeping a lid on their relationship. Just last week he told People Magazine that he loved everything about her. While Cannon is a well-known rapper and has dated women such as Kim Kardashian and Grammy nominee Christina Milian, his celebrity experience is small in comparison to Carey’s megastar success. 

Since 1990 Carey has been producing such hits as “Vision of Love,” “Emotions,” and “Without You.” In addition to being a musical diva, she’s also starred in various shows and movies. Just last year she was cast in Adam Sandler’s upcoming film, “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.” Before that she appeared in Ally McBeal, Wisegirls, and Glitter. 

The closest Carey has come to commenting on her engagement with Cannon, was to say that she only had eyes for her Jack Russell terrier. “I’m in love with my dog. He is my special someone. I love spending time with him.” Hopefully Cannon knows that he falls a distant second to Carey’s canine! Last weekend Carey was caught with a pink bandaid on her hand – apparently her special someone gave her a little love bite! When questioned about it, she insisted that it was only an accident. Perhaps it’s time to trade she trades in her defiant dog for a more loyal pup.
