When questioned at the beach last weekend about her wedding, Jennifer Love Hewitt, 28, jokingly states, “It won’t be a summer wedding. I won’t be a sweaty bride.” Despite her outward distaste for the sun and surf, she’s been caught on many occasions frequenting the Californian beaches with a tall dark stranger. 

The Party of Five and Ghost Whisperer actress has been dating Scottish thespian, Ross McCall, 32, since 2006 after meeting him on the set of The Ghost Whisperer. McCall, notably known for his role in HBO’s Band of Brothers, proposed to Hewitt with a 100 year old heirloom ring last November. The engagement took place during a last-minute trip to the Hawaiian Islands.

Upon returning to the mainland, Hewitt was confronted with magazine photos brutally critiquing her “less-than-perfect figure.” While she shrugged off the negative publicity, it was a poor ending to what should have been the best time of her entire life. “I’ve sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women’s bodies are constantly scrutinized. What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles.” 

After suffering such overt humiliation, it’s no surprise that the pair desire a wedding far from public scrutiny. “We are still planning the wedding and haven’t set a date yet. But it’ll still be small and intimate,” Hewitt said at the American Cancer Society benefit, Evening of Hope. Friends and family are eager to attend the much-anticipated event and be witness to a Hollywood wedding that will surely stand the test of time. 

This is a first wedding for both Hewitt and McCall. Hewitt’s impressive dating history includes faces such as: Carson Daly, John Mayer, Kip Pardue, Will Friedle, and Rich Cronin. While she admits that her past relationships were fun, none had even come close to the big “I do.”

Neither Hewitt nor McCall are in a big hurry to tie the nuptial knot. Hewitt is currently busy shooting the third season of The Ghost Whisperer while McCall is pursuing other creative opportunities.
