Shanna Moakler, former Miss USA, has high hopes when it comes to love. Moakler, 32, has been put through the ringer ever since her ex-husband, Travis Barker, 32, asked for a divorce in 2006. The American model and actress was with Barker for only 3 short years – together they had son Landon, 4, and daughter Alabama, 2.
Their relationship had seemed picture perfect on the outside. Barker first proposed to Moakler during a trip to Disneyland inside the Haunted Mansion, taking her completely by surprise. She later returned the favor with her own proposal and ring – even getting down on one knee – and asked Barker for his hand in marriage.
They tied the knot on October 23, 2006. Inspired by their favorite flick, The Nightmare Before Christmas, the couple decided on a black and red motif for their Bacara Resort wedding. Moakler wore a wedding gown covered in white antique lace with a wide black sash and matching netted hat. The groom wore a custom-designed pin-striped jacket with screened pictures on the sleeves and back. They had six flower girls, all who wore white sleeveless dresses with black sashes and wreaths of yellow and red. After the wedding celebration came to a close, the new Barkers jetted off to Tahiti for a blissful and romantic honeymoon.
Prior to walking down the aisle, the couple decided to commit their lives to reality television. In 2005, their show, Meet the Barkers, aired over MTV. It wasn't very long after that point when Barker decided to “call it quits.” The show and their marriage came to an abrupt halt. Moakler, completely devastated, displaced her anger through bitter Myspace blogs, all which indicated that she was still in love with her now estranged rockstar husband.
After months of watching Barker date various women (Paris Hilton being one of them!) the couple reunited for a brief period. They were seen going out for romantic dinners and vacations, and even spotted in Las Vegas during the Valentine weekend. When asked about the state of their relationship in April 2007, Barker said that they had both decided to come out of their separation and be together for their kids. Two months later, their relationship was back on the fence. Although they've made a few public appearances together since then, Moakler concedes that they are not a couple.
To this day, Moakler can honestly admit that she is still “madly in love” with Travis. Although there are still strong feelings on her end, she is ready to move on and devote her time to being the greatest mother possible. In spite of recent news that their divorce is official, an inside source reveals that the couple is secretly rekindling their relationship in hopes to salvage what was once one of the sweetest marriages in Hollywood.
One can't help but wonder if a good deal of their marital spats had anything to do with the fact that they tried to turn their family into public entertainment. Other marriages who met their tv demise: Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey, and Britney Spears & Kevin Federline.
