It seems that the fallen pop star has “done it again.” Both the Herald Sun and Star Magazine are reporting that Britney Spears and paparazzi turned bodyguard, Adnan Ghalib, fled to Mexico last January for a covert wedding. The tabloids had been aware of the trip for weeks; but it was only recently that they discovered the true intent behind the spontaneous get-away.

An inside source told Star Magazine that Ghalib had been manipulating her from the very beginning. “When Britney got out of the hospital the first time, Adnan talked her into going to Mexico to get married, saying that was the only way he could protect her.” And it gets worse: it seems that Brit's new strapping guardian is already married to AzLynn Berry! A technicality which makes their romantic Mexico marriage completely irrelevant.

Although initially enraged upon learning of his marital status, Spears quickly forgave Ghalib and decided to give him a second chance. An insider revealed that she loaned him roughly $250,000 to help speed up the divorce process. Her difficulties with Ghalib are undeniably similar to the issues she went through with K-Fed in 2004; they began their relationship while he was still engaged to Shar Jackson and with whom he already had two children. However, this didn't deter Britney - the pair announced their engagement after only 3 short months of dating, leaving Shar and kids in the dust.

Spears has always been an impulsive girl in the matters of love. Who could forget her quickie Las Vegas wedding with childhood friend, Jason Alexander that same year? The marriage only lasted 55 hours; terminated based on the fact that Spears “lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to marriage; the Plaintiff and Defendant did not know each other's likes and dislikes, each others' desires to have or not have children, and each others' desires as to State of residency.”

While many believe that Ghalib is taking advantage of the star's fragile state, her actions are not unlike anything we've seen before. In fact, perhaps what Spears needs most of all is someone to comfort her. She is still currently battling for custody of her two boys, while the rift between her mom and sister grows ever wider. Whether or not their absence is Spears' own doing, it's safe to say that she is very much alone during the hardest time of her life.

It's rumored that Spears and Ghalib will have another wedding once the divorce is finalized. Adnan is doing everything he can to “worm his way back into her life, promising that he'll get married again once his divorce is final,” an insider told Star. The question on everyone's minds: is Ghalib a snake or a good guy?

While most everyone is quick to believe the former, others who know Ghalib assure that he has only the best intentions at heart. One source asserts, “I met Adnan a year ago by his house in Palm Desert. He is a gentleman that has respect for people.” She went on to further state that Ghalib and Spears became close after Ghalib listened to her talk out her problems for more than 7 hours!

When questioned about their relationship in an interview with 20/20, Ghalib seemed to be pretty genuine in his responses. “I think, God's honest truth, I think she's a great person. I really do.” He even had a thing or to say about Spears' downward spiral. “She's never made the best choices in friends, even her relationships. It's unfortunate that she is the way she is because of the people she surrounds herself with.”

Though his goal may be somewhat questionable, his words ring true. We can only pray that this marriage works out better for Brit than her previous ones!
